Upper Hawksbill Trail is an easy 2.1-mile round-trip hike. You can find the trailhead at Mile 46.5 on Skyline Drive.

The park has 2 other trails leading to the summit, but this is the easiest with an elevation gain of 520 feet.

You can rest at Byrds Nest 2 Shelter, but you are nearly to the summit.

The end of the trail offers a nice view, but...

a short side trail leads you to a large viewing platform. You are now at the highest point in Shenandoah National Park, 4,050 feet.
