Epic Universe Harry Potter fans, rejoice — one of the five themed worlds now open at Universal Orlando’s new Epic Universe centers around the Ministry of Magic, and it’s nothing short of spellbinding.
Julie and I, lifelong fans of the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts books and films, couldn’t wait to step inside. Experiencing the immersive land in person was a dream come true—from the stunning portal entrance to the magical atmosphere around every corner.
But you don’t have to be a devoted fan to enjoy it. The Ministry of Magic is a richly themed experience for kids and adults, offering something for everyone. With a thrilling ride, interactive elements, one captivating show, and plenty of delicious food and drinks, this world pulls you in like few theme park lands ever have.

Where is Epic Universe Harry Potter Land Located?

Epic Universe is located at 1001 Epic Boulevard, Orlando, FL 32819 — about 4 miles south of Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic is one of four themed lands that branch off from Celestial Park, the central hub of Epic Universe.
From Celestial Park’s main entrance, head to the right. You’ll pass the How to Train Your Dragon – Isle of Berk portal before reaching the entrance to the Ministry of Magic.
Where to Stay

We stayed at Universal Stella Nova Resort, a sleek, modern hotel with cosmic theming and a convenient location. While complimentary shuttle service is available, Julie and I enjoyed an easy 5-minute walk to the park.
Stella Nova is clean, comfortable, and surprisingly well-equipped for a prime-value hotel. It offers a pool, game room, fitness center, restaurants, and more. Curious about the cosmic vibes? Check out our full Stella Nova Resort review for the inside scoop.
If you’re looking to splurge, consider Universal Helios Grand Hotel. This luxury hotel sits along the edge of Celestial Park and features fine dining, a rooftop bar, and even a dedicated entrance to Epic Universe.
Guests at both hotels with valid park tickets enjoy early park admission—up to one hour before the general public.
Ministry of Magic Theme and Storyline

Julie and I were blown away by the Ministry of Magic’s scale and detail. The towering buildings are nearly twice the height of Universal’s other Harry Potter–themed lands, instantly making the space feel grand and imposing.
The land blends magical elements from the British Ministry seen in the Harry Potter films with the 1920s Paris setting featured in Fantastic Beasts, creating a richly layered and immersive environment.
Be sure to take your time exploring—scan every level, from the cobblestone streets to the shop windows and rooftops. You’ll uncover clever Easter eggs, ornate architectural flourishes, and spellbinding carvings—especially the archway at the entrance and exit, which is next level in its craftsmanship.
Ministry of Magic Portal

Passing through the Ministry of Magic portal was one of our favorite experiences in Epic Universe. The entrance features a towering column crowned with a hand grasping the Elder Wand, setting the stage for the magic ahead.
As you step into the glowing blue tunnel, the swirling light and sounds build anticipation. On the other side, the scale of the buildings instantly transports you to 1920s Paris. It feels like you’ve stepped into another world.
Remember to look back—the view of the grand arch from within the land is absolutely surreal.
Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Ride Overview

During our preview at the park’s technical rehearsal, Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry used a virtual queue system that was tough to access. Fortunately, the attraction now offers a traditional standby line.
While wait times may be long, it’s a fair and accessible system that allows everyone to ride. (Note: the height requirement is 40 inches.)
The queue is nothing short of spectacular—fully immersive and larger than life. Riders begin their journey by traveling via Floo powder, stepping through swirling green mist and lights.
When you emerge from the smoke, you find yourself in the British Ministry of Magic, where Dolores Umbridge is on trial. The atrium’s grand scale and intricate design are breathtaking—so much so that many Harry Potter fans (including us) get emotional taking it all in.
Look for hidden details and Easter eggs as you move through the queue. You’ll pass talking picture frames with familiar faces and meet Higgledy, a new character and former house elf of Umbridge.
The ride is a thrilling experience, seamlessly blending screen-based animation with practical effects and smooth motion mechanics. You’ll chase Umbridge through the Ministry in a wild attempt to bring her to justice. From subtle drops to impressive visual transitions, this is easily one of the most immersive rides we’ve ever experienced.
That said, if you’re prone to motion sickness, be cautious. Even with Dramamine, the ride upset Julie’s stomach, and she decided once was enough. Still, she admired the artistry and story woven into every moment.

Le Cirque Arcanus: A Magical Stage Show for All Ages

Le Cirque Arcanus is the Ministry of Magic’s signature stage show, and it’s one you won’t want to miss. The performance runs under 30 minutes and blends live-action storytelling, puppetry, and magical effects to captivate both kids and adults.
The experience begins with a short pre-show where guests must stand, but once inside the main theater, you’ll be comfortably seated for the remainder of the show. From what we’ve seen, the production is imaginative, family-friendly, and full of surprises.
We could only catch the first five to ten minutes during our technical rehearsal visit—but what we saw was fantastic. The costumes, effects, and atmosphere immediately pulled us in. We can’t wait to return and experience the whole performance.
The park presents multiple performances throughout the day, so you’ll have more than one chance to catch it. We recommend checking the Universal Orlando app for current showtimes and availability during your visit.
Interactive Spellcasting and Magical Moments

While Julie and I didn’t get to try the interactive elements ourselves, we loved watching both kids and giant kids (yes, adults!) light up with joy as they cast spells and brought the world to life.
Armed with interactive wands, guests can perform wand movements at designated spots to trigger magical effects. We saw spellcasters open enchanted doors, cause lights to flicker, and even make a stack of cauldrons boil.
The attention to detail is incredible—each interaction is uniquely themed to the world’s storyline and surroundings. Whether you’re a seasoned witch or wizard or embracing your inner child, these interactive elements add more fun and immersion to your visit.
It’s another feature that sets Epic Universe apart from classic theme parks. Lands like the Ministry of Magic and Super Nintendo World offer guests far more than just rides—you can explore, play, and connect with the land in meaningful ways.
If you’re not a big ride fan, there’s still plenty to do. At Epic Universe, the atmosphere and theming are attractions in their own right, and the interactive elements take that experience to another level.
It’s essential to note that a compatible interactive wand is required to participate. Guests can purchase wands at shops within the Ministry of Magic, including Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique.
Second-generation interactive wands offer an even more immersive experience—they sync with the park app, allowing guests to earn points and track their spellcasting progress throughout the day.
Food and Drinks in Epic Universe’s Ministry of Magic

We absolutely loved the food and drinks in Epic Universe’s Harry Potter land. The theming of the dishes and libations is spot-on, and each dining setting truly transports you into scenes from the books and films.
The Ministry of Magic world offers three unique spots to grab a bite or a drink—and we had the chance to try them all. Each one impressed us with its flavor, creativity, and atmosphere.
You’ll also find a Butterbeer cart serving the famous wizarding beverage. While we didn’t grab a drink, we saw plenty of happy guests sporting butterbeer mustaches and big smiles as they sipped this beloved treat.
Let’s dig into the deets of the eats!
Bieraubeurre Cart

Don’t be intimidated by the name — Bieraubeurre is simply the French word for butterbeer. This charming drink stand serves cold or frozen butterbeer, available with or without a souvenir mug, and refreshing Gillywater. If you’re thirsty or want to enjoy the Wizarding World’s most iconic beverage without a full meal, this is the perfect stop to grab a butterbeer and savor the magic on the go.
Bar Moonshine

If you’re craving an adult beverage with a magical twist, go to Bar Moonshine. This enchanted pub serves up a mix of kid-friendly drinks—like pumpkin juice, butterbeer, lemonade, lavender lemonade, strawberry iced tea, and even a magical mixer that changes the color of your drink when combined.
But let’s be honest—the real stars here are the beers, wines, and cocktails. On tap, you’ll find:
- Daisyroot Draught – a light, crisp ale with notes of malty biscuit.
- Wizard’s Brew – a full-bodied sweet stout.
- Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc – a fruity wheat beer with citrus and a hint of spice.
- Crooked Can Au Currant Saison – a unique Saison brewed with black currants.
We sampled the Wizard’s Brew and the Kronenbourg 1664 Blanc. Both were excellent, but the Kronenbourg stood out as one of our favorite beers in the Epic Universe.
If cocktails are more your style, Bar Moonshine delivers with colorful concoctions that pack a punch. I tried the Lobe Blaster, a bold blend of limoncello, absinthe, lemon juice, club soda, and simple syrup. It’s topped with a rosemary sprig and a magical color-shifting layer that makes it as eye-catching as it is strong.
Pro tip: sip slowly—it’s delicious but has a bite.
Julie went with the Fleur 75, a classy mix of dry gin, elderflower liqueur, sparkling wine, lemon juice, and simple syrup garnished with a delicate lemon spiral. It was light, bubbly, and full of flavor.
Whether you’re after a burst of citrus, a dark stout, or something that literally sparkles, Bar Moonshine has a drink that’ll charm your taste buds. The drinks are tasty, whimsical, and perfectly refreshing.
Café L’air De La Sirène

Step into Café L’air De La Sirène, a charming Parisian-inspired café with both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu offers French-inspired dishes from breakfast to dinner, including quiches, crepes, soups, sandwiches, and more.
We chose to dine outside, and the moment we settled in, we felt whisked away to the peaceful streets of Paris—imagine quaint shops and cozy cafés humming quietly in the background. The relaxed atmosphere paired perfectly with the delicious food, making this one of our most memorable experiences in the park.
Our tasting included:
- Bieraubeurre Crepe (a delightful butterbeer crepe).
- Crepe Citronnée aux Chambord (filled with lemon cream cheese, Chambord sauce, and seasonal berries).
- Baguette de Dinde (slices of cracked black pepper turkey, apples, brie, and arugula, topped with mustard and apple butter, all served on a warm baguette).
- Boeuf Bourguignon (a hearty, comforting stew reminiscent of classic pot roast).
We enjoyed a refreshing cup of lavender lemonade to wash it all down.
Everything we tried was simply delicious, and the charming atmosphere made it even more special.
Le Gobelet Noir

We loved the atmosphere at Le Gobelet Noir. It reminded us of the Leaky Cauldron with its dark, mysterious vibe, but in a way that feels more magical than moody.
Don’t let the dim lighting fool you—this isn’t just a shadowy pub slinging drinks. You can grab adult and kid-friendly beverages, but the menu goes well beyond that, offering salads, soups, handhelds, entrées, and desserts.
We ordered a couple of kid-friendly drinks—pumpkin juice and lavender lemonade—to accompany a warm shaved beef sandwich (shaved corned beef with butter cheese and German mustard on multigrain bread) and a serving of baklava.
Though the sandwich was tasty, it didn’t quite dethrone the Baguette de Dinde from Café L’air De La Sirène. The baklava, however, was a standout—Julie ranked it among her favorite desserts in Epic Universe.
I enjoyed the food, but the real star is the atmosphere. It’s a great place to unwind away from the larger crowds swirling through the rest of the park.
The moody lighting, rustic wood, and cozy feel transport you straight into the pages of a Harry Potter book—it truly feels like the kind of pub wizards might gather in after a long day of spellwork. It’s a lot of fun and well worth a stop.
Characters You’ll See in the Harry Potter Land at Epic Universe

One of the coolest things about the Harry Potter-themed land at Epic Universe is how the characters blend into the world around you.
Instead of formal meet-and-greets, you’ll encounter roaming characters that make the experience feel alive—students from different wizarding schools stroll the streets in their distinct robes, chatting, casting spells, and bringing a bit of magic to every corner. We spotted a few on our visit, and it felt like we’d walked straight into a scene from the films.
We’ve also heard you might encounter Aurors patrolling the area, watching for dark magic (or mischievous Muggles). While there’s no set schedule for these appearances, it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled—they make this land feel authentic and immersive.
Shopping in Epic Universe Harry Potter Land: What to Buy and Where
From wands and wizarding robes to enchanted sweets and Ministry memorabilia, the shops in this magical land offer a little something for every witch, wizard, and curious Muggle.
Cosme Acajor Baguettes Magique
This beautiful wand shop instantly caught our attention with its striking triangular wand boxes and old-world charm. Inside, you’ll find interactive wands—some unique to this land—plus familiar favorites from the British wizarding world.
K. Rammelle

This magical confectionery is a must if you’ve got a sweet tooth. We were tempted by the colorful array of wizarding treats, all with a touch of French flair. It’s the perfect stop for a post-ride snack or a gift that won’t make it home unopened.
Les Galeries Mirifiques
This was one of the most visually stunning shops we stepped into—designed like an upscale wizarding department store. It’s full of Ministry of Magic gear, stylish robes, and unique souvenirs you won’t find elsewhere in the park.
Tour en Floo

We found this tucked near the exit of the main ride, and it’s a fun stop if you want Ministry-themed merch. Think wands, magical notebooks, and even Auror-inspired apparel—great for channeling your inner magical law enforcer.
Atmosphere After Dark

One of the biggest surprises during our time at Epic Universe was how stunning the park becomes after sunset—and the Harry Potter land was no exception. We didn’t expect the streets of Paris to glow with such warmth and beauty.
Twinkling lights, enchanting details, and magical Easter eggs reveal themselves in the soft evening glow. It’s an entirely different experience at night—peaceful, immersive, and unforgettable. Whatever you do, don’t miss this land after dark.
Top Tips for Visiting Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe

Planning ahead can make all the difference—these tips will help you get the most out of your visit to the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe.
Check Official Info First
Before your visit, check the official Universal Orlando Resort site for current park hours, ticket prices, and availability—these can change seasonally or due to special events.
Download the Universal Orlando Resort App
The app is a must-have. We found it easy to use and incredibly helpful for monitoring real-time ride wait times, navigating the park, and placing mobile food orders where available.
Mobile Food Ordering: Required for Table Service, Not Quick Service
At quick-service spots like Bar Moonshine and Bieraubeurre Cart, you order and pay in person at the counter. However, mobile ordering is strongly encouraged for restaurants with seating areas such as Café L’air De La Sirène and Le Gobelet Noir.
Find a table, scan the QR code, and enter your table number in the app. A team member will bring your food to you, making dining smoother and more convenient.
Keep an Eye Out for Roaming Characters

Unexpected encounters with roaming characters are one of the most unique experiences in the Ministry of Magic land. Students from wizarding schools and mysterious Aurors wander the streets, so stay alert—you never know who might appear.
Ride Wait Times Can Build Quickly

Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry is a standout attraction and often ranks among the top rides in Epic Universe. Arriving early or using the app to monitor wait times can help you avoid the longest lines.
Prepare for Motion Sensitivity

This thrilling ride includes intense motion and effects that can cause motion sickness for some guests. Julie experienced this firsthand and has created a motion sickness guide for all Epic Universe rides—check it out if you’re prone to nausea.
Experience the Land After Dark

The Ministry of Magic land truly shines at night, with glowing streets and magical details coming alive under the stars. Don’t miss visiting after dusk for a completely different, unforgettable atmosphere.
Plan to Spend at Least Two Days in Epic Universe

Each world in Epic Universe is richly themed and packed with details, dining, rides, and surprises. You’ll want time to slow down, soak it all in, and explore without rushing. We recommend at least two days to truly experience everything—especially the magic of the new Harry Potter land in Universal.
Plan Your Harry Potter Epic Universe Orlando Adventure

This land is pure magic if you’re a Harry Potter fan—or just someone who loves incredible theming. The level of detail, immersive atmosphere, and how alive the world felt around us genuinely blew us away. From sipping butterbeer on a glowing Parisian street to battling alongside wizards in one of the park’s best rides, every corner of this land invites you to be part of the story.
Whether you’re in it for the food, the fun, or the fantasy, we can’t recommend this experience enough. Download the app, plan ahead, and carve out plenty of time to explore. And whatever you do, don’t rush—slow down, take it all in, and let the magic find you.
We had an unforgettable time, and we think you will, too. Your adventure awaits!
