Harry Potter World: Best Food & Drinks (That Are Not Butterbeer)

When you visit Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure theme parks, you are transported from the muggle world to a world of magic.  Each park offers an immersive Harry Potter land that will leave you enchanted.

A visit is not complete without sipping a butterbeer.  It is easily the most talked about beverage from the Harry Potter books and films.  However, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter offers many other refreshing beverages and tasty bites.

We cover the best food and drinks (that are not butterbeer) in Harry Potter World so you can maximize your magical experience.  Our list includes delicious options for both adults and children.  Let’s dig in.

PUMPKIN FIZZ

A cup of pumpkin fizz

Pumpkin juice is an iconic beverage from the Harry Potter franchise.  It is tasty, but some find it to be too sweet.

A pumpkin fizz is the carbonated version of the drink.  The carbonation magically reduces the sweetness a bit, leaving you with an enjoyable experience.

Pumpkin fizz is like fall in a cup.  It is absolutely delicious!  You may taste notes of pumpkin pie, cinnamon, nutmeg and apple cider.

Where to find it:  Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

This is one of my two favorite non-alcoholic beverages offered in the Harry Potter themed parks.  Spoiler alert, the other one is next.

LEMON SQUASH DRINK

Tongue tying lemon squash

The tongue tying lemon squash is reminiscent of lemonade.  In honor of its name, your cup includes a squashed lemon

My first sip tasted like lemon-flavored water.  The more I drank, the more this one grew on me.  I can’t really explain it.  Although more tart than lemonade, it never comes across as sour

As much as I love fall flavors, I must admit that this is the best non-alcoholic beveragein the Harry Potter themed lands.

Where to find it:  Leaky Cauldron and The Hopping Pot in Diagon Alley.

The lemon squash is so tasty and refreshing.  This one should appeal to both kids and adults.  Don’t miss it!

WIZARD’S BREW

As you may have guessed from the name, wizard’s brew is an adult beverage.  It is a dark stout with a sweet finish.  The flavor profile includes notes of chocolate and coffee.  Wizard’s brew is a balanced and smooth drink to help you cool off in the Orlando heat.

Where to find it: This beer is poured at Leaky Cauldron, Fountain of Fair Fortune and The Hopping Pot.  All of these are located in Diagon Alley.

Having a dark beer in the sinister Diagon Alley is quite appropriate.  Yes, the Harry Potter experience is immersive…

BEEF PASTIES HARRY POTTER

I was nervous to try the beef pasties.  To my surprise, they were my favorite savoryfood in both Universal parks.  These handheld pies are succulent.

Beef and vegetables are cradled in a flaky pastry crust.  It is like eating a pot roast pie.  I’m home!

Where to find it:  Beef pasties are served with a salad in Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade or on their own in The Hopping Pot in Diagon Alley.

These pair nicely with wizard’s brew!

FISH AND CHIPS LEAKY CAULDRON

The fish and chips are hot and bursting with flavor.  You will feel like you are sitting in a London pub.

Where to find it:  This popular English dish can be found at Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade and Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley.

The fish and chips are on par with those served in the England section of EPCOT.

BAKED APPLE PIE

My daughter loves apple pie.  We were shocked to hear her exclaim, “This is the best apple pie I have ever had!”  Immediately, everyone in our family wanted a bite.

Where to find it:  Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade.

Our family of ten made this trip.  We all agree that this freshly baked apple pie is magical.

PUMPKIN CAKE HARRY POTTER

Pumpkin cake

Do not let the bright orange frosting scare you.  Pumpkin cakes are delightful.

The cake is moist with a subtle pumpkin flavor.  The icing brings a complimentary citrus taste to the table.  This sweet treat really hits the spot between rides.

Where to find it:  Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugar Plum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley.

You may want to ask for a fork.  This one can get a little messy.

COTTAGE PIE LEAKY CAULDRON

A divine potato crust sits on top of hearty beef and vegetablesOnion flavor rounds out this satisfying dish.

Where to find it:  Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley.

The cottage pie looks small, but is fulfilling.  It comes with a salad.

STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING LEAKY CAULDRON

This dense cake-like dessert is full of sweet and gooey goodness.  It is served warm with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream.  As it melts in your mouth, a smile creeps on your face.  Sheer bliss!

We devoured this treat quickly.  Unfortunately, we did not even pause to take pictures.  Not sorry.

Where to find it:  Leaky Cauldron in Diagon Alley.

Do not let the dark atmosphere of this pub frighten you.  The vanilla and butterscotch notes from the sticky toffee pudding will warm your soul and brighten your mood.

PUMPKIN PASTY

The pumpkin pasty is an iconic treat that you must try.  It is a handheld pie of pumpkin and cinnamon enveloped by a flaky pastry crust.

The pumpkin pasty must be a portkey.  I felt like I was literally in Hogsmeade!

Where to find it:  Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugar Plum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley.

These have been known to sell out.  Be sure to grab one early in the day!

GINGER NEWT

Ginger newt cookie

This is essentially an iced molasses cookie or gingersnap in the shape of a newt.  My expectations were not high.  I was pleasantly surprised.  These cookies are delicious!

Some of the park snacks are too sweetThis treat is just right.  Be sure to give the ginger newt cookie a try.  You will be glad you did.

Where to find it:  Honeydukes in Hogsmeade and Sugar Plum’s Sweet Shop in Diagon Alley.

These are also known to sell outDo not risk waiting until late in the day to snag one.  Strike early like a Slytherin.

WRAP UP: HARRY POTTER WORLD FOOD AND DRINKS

A trip to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is truly magical.  It is even better than what you might imagine from the books and movies.  The food and drinks are a big part of the experience

After sipping your butterbeer, be sure to try the other best food and drinks in Harry Potter World.  Just like this immersive world, they are extraordinary!

Don’t forget to pack sunscreen to protect your skin and your camera to capture memories.  Magical adventure will be yours at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter!
